Progressive Transportation Safety Culture and Tips

Drivers - Safety Commitment

Progressive Transportation takes our responsibility to the motoring public very seriously. As we endeavor to be the safest carrier on the highways of America all progressive employees and contractors are schooled in the Progressive Transportation Safety Commitment. Employees are required to sign the document below while contractors and drivers are tested on its content during their orientation.

PROGRESSIVE TRANSPORTATION SAFETY COMMITMENT

As a member of the staff of Progressive Transportation I will endeavor to perform my assigned duties in a manner that meets or exceeds the safety standards and regulations, of the DOT, Progressive Transportation and insurance carrier. These include but are not limited to the following:

Dispatch all contractors in a manner that meets DOT/Progressive safety standards including hours of service, proper loading and unloading time, and weather related delays.

Book and plan shipment trips with adequate time to meet legal dispatch.

Knowingly shutting down and refusing to dispatch all linehaul equipment that does not meet DOT/Progressive safety standards including scheduled inspections.

Placing contractors out of service that do not meet DOT/Progressive standards, including expired drivers' licenses, medical certificates, and vehicle registrations and permits.

Ensuring contractors are tested and trained on DOT/Progressive/Insurance safety policies in orientation.

Contacting management when there is a safety issue with which you are unfamiliar with or do not understand before allowing contractor to return to any safety sensitive function.

Report all accidents immediately to the designated safety employee regardless of severity.

Beware of black ice.  Black ice can fool drivers into thinking its water. Black ice is likely to form first under bridges and overpasses, in shady spots, and at intersections.
